The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
